When faced with root intrusion, cracking and leaking sewers,
chemical grouting is fast becoming the rehabilitation method of
choice. Cheaper and less disruptive than other methods, grouting
is ideal for sewers experiencing inflow or outflow problems, but
that aren't serious enough to warrant a total replacement.
Chemical grouts are injected and packed into the area being
worked on, stopping leaks by filling joints and cracks. This
creates a waterproof mass which cannot be discharged back
into the sewer system. The applied grout adheres to the outer
wall of the pipe, where it will stay indefinitely if left undisturbed.
Chemical grout can be removed by excavation, or may deteriorate
over time, but only if exposed to extended periods of sunlight.
